Caterpillar - Admissions
Caterpillar Class is located within the main school building. We offer places for children aged 3 - 4 who are in receipt of either 15-hour universal funding or 30-hour extended funding. Caterpillar Class operates on a term-time only basis.
At present, we do not offer paid top-up hours. However, this is something that is kept under regular review.
We are currently accepting applications for 2026 - 2027 places.
If you would like to find out more about Caterpillar Class or would like to apply for a place, please visit our main school admin office, where staff will be happy to provide you with further information and an application form.
Transition into nursery is very important to us. As with The Meadow, every child’s journey into Caterpillar Class begins with a home visit. These visits usually take place during the summer term before a child is due to start and allow staff to meet children in a familiar environment where they feel comfortable and secure. It is also a valuable opportunity for families to share information about their child and begin building a relationship with nursery staff.
Following this, we invite children and their families to attend a small number of stay and play sessions during the summer term. These sessions allow children to become familiar with the environment, the adults and the routines of nursery before starting more formally.
Official transition usually begins in the early weeks of September, and we work closely with families during this time to ensure that each child settles confidently. We recognise that every child is an individual, and while we aim for children to begin attending nursery as soon as they are ready, the pace of transition is always discussed and reviewed in partnership with parents.
Building strong relationships with families is central to our approach. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential in supporting children as they begin their nursery journey.
